Week beginning - 01.02.21

This week's focus is:

Gather up, Winter Birdwatchers!

This week we are taking part in the Big School's Birdwatch - RSPB to find out about the birds in our environment.

Activity 1 - RSPB bird watch.

Can you help count all the different birds that come into your garden,  you see on a walk, or by looking through a window?

Can you learn their names and notice the differences and similarities between them ?

What do they have that is the same?

Are there any differences?  Look out for their size, feathers, colour, bird song.

Pause the video to talk about all the things that the humans leave behind.
Is it right or wrong? What can we do to help keep the birds happy?

Activity 2

Make a bird feeder to hang in your garden.

Here are a few ideas for you.....

Birds also need water so you can you put a dish of water out so they can drink or bathe.

Activity 3

Draw your favourite bird and write sentences or labels about it.

How to help your child 

Ask them to think of a sentence or a label.

Ask them to say it out loud.

Ask them to sound out the words using their  phonics and use their phonic card to help them.

Finally they can have a go at writing it.
