Positional Language

Watch the video and talk together about the different positions.

• Where is the cat?
• Encourage children to use words to describe the position of the cat.
• Ask your child to repeat the positional word used to describe the cat.

Acting out positions

Encourage your child to act out different positions using an item of furniture (chair, table).

Can they …

stand next to the chair?

go under the chair?

stand in front of the chair?

go behind the chair?

See if your child can understand the different positional words.  You could challenge your child and use words like between and beside.
