WELCOME TO MAPLE TREE

Thursday 7th September

Today was our first trip of the new academic year to Forest School. The children enjoyed playing on the obstacle course the staff built over the Summer.

Monday 11th September

The children enjoyed participating in a range of SEMH challenges by working as a team and holding a variety of poses and positions when asked.

Thursday 14th September

Our first fire of the year. The children were taught how to use a saw correctly and cut up wood for future projects. We also have had a delivery of tyres, the children are discussing how they want them to be used.

Friday 15th September

Today's well being lesson was all about how your troubles can be blown away. They created their own windmills and decorated them as they wanted to. Then if anything troubles them they could blow it away.

Monday 18th September

In Science today the children conducted their own experiment in order to see if they can make a plant reproduce an exact clone of itself. They followed instructions on dissecting a geranium plant and placed them in water near sunlight. We will check in a couple of weeks if they have been successful.

Halloween fun 🎃

Wednesday 22nd October

We have moved on from the drumming lessons and now we are learning to play the guitar!

As part of our current Maya topic, we have been looking at how the Maya farmed the land and how they used cocoa beans in their day to day diet. We then investigated how this progressed to the chocolate bars we have today. We went on a trip to Cadbury World to see just what we have been looking at in class and how it has turned Cadburys into the global company it is today.

Wednesday 20th December

Today was Christmas Dinner Day. We all sat together listening to Christmas music whilst eating our Turkey Dinner or packed lunch. Then we had a surprise visit from the 'Big Man' himself who delivered gifts for all of the children.

Wednesday 24th January

In today's Thrive group session, we worked on trusting our friends. A course was set up around the classroom where we had to help our partner get across the room by crawling under tables or walking around tables and chairs. We had to be really clear with our instructions so our partner did not get hurt or touch any of the obstacles.
