Roald Dahl Day 2020

Friday 9th September 2020

On Friday, we celebrated Roald Dahl day in school. Each class was given a Roald Dahl book to read and we were challenged to create a story jar based on our book by the end of the week.

George's Marvellous Medicine!

In Year 3, our Roald Dahl book was George's Marvellous Medicine.

We had a fantastic time reading the book together as a class and discovering all of the different ingredients that George put into his medicine.

Year 3 also really enjoyed shouting "You nasty little worm" or "You are growing too quickly" every time Grandma mentioned it in the story.

Our Story Jars!

On Friday, to celebrate Roald Dahl Day we created our own story jars based on George's Marvellous Medicine in class.

We had an amazing afternoon and we all worked extremely hard to bring our story to life.

We even had a couple of children who attempted to create their own marvellous medicine using water, paint, glitter and food colouring!

See below for our classes finished pieces, as well as some pictures of us working throughout the afternoon!

M&M Theatrical Productions Presents:

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

 Thursday 24th September 2020

Today we were very lucky to have some amazing visitors in school from the M&M Theatrical Production group.

We were treated to a performance of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

It was amazing! We had such a great time! The show made us laugh, shout and even let us try out some of our best dance moves!

There was even a bit that helped us practise our 3-times tables!

Check below for some photos of the performance in action!

Harvest Festival Celebrations

Friday 2nd October 2020

This week in class, we have been working extremely hard to learn and practise a song to celebrate the Harvest Festival.

The Harvest Festival is a celebration of all of the food that is grown on land. It is celebrated to give thanks for a successful harvest and to remind ourselves of all the good things we are given.

In Year 3, we learnt the song 'Autumn Days', we practised some absolutely beautiful singing and some of us even enjoyed swaying side-to-side in time with the music.

I hope you enjoy our performance below.

Black History Month

Friday 9th October 2020

Throughout the month of October in the United Kingdom, we celebrate Black History Month.

Black History Month is an event which celebrates the history, arts and culture of black people throughout the world.

In school this week each year group was given a famous person of colour to celebrate. In Year 3, our famous person was Barack Obama.

Barack Obama!

Did you know that Barack Obama was the 44th President of the United States of America. He also has the distinction of being the first African-American Man to become the President of the USA.

In class this week, we have worked fantastically in order to create fact files to celebrate the life and achievements of Barack Obama.

See below for some images of our work!

Halloween Dress Up Day!

Friday 23rd October 2020

Spooky season was well and truly upon us in Year 3 today! As an end of Half Term treat, we were all invited to come to school dressed up in our scariest costumes for a day that was sure to be filled with tricks and maybe even a few treats!

We definitely rose to the occasion, we all looked super scary! Mr Lambrou was so scared he had to go and hide in his cupboard at one point!

We had such a fun filled day. We had a drawing competition to design our very own class pumpkin!

We all drew our designs and then we had a class vote in order to decide who's pumpkin design we were going to carve.

We are delighted to say that our classmate Dolly's design was chosen and she got the extremely fun job of scooping all the seeds and pulp from inside the pumpkin.

Then Mrs Oldnall carved the pumpkin making sure it looked exactly like Dolly's design!
