This week our book focus is 'The Gruffalo'
Activity One
Listening and sharing a story
Listen to the story 'The Gruffalo'.
Talk about the events that happen in the story.
Encourage children to join in with the repeated phrases.
Ask questions:
what does the Gruffalo look like?
what did the mouse do to stop the animals from eating him?
Is the Gruffalo scared of the mouse?
Activity Two
Making story props
Could you make a character from the story? You can use a range of materials.
You might like to make story puppets or story head bands.
Think about the characters -
What do they look like?
What colours do they have?
What shapes do they have?
When you have completed your story props can you act out the events of the story?
Here are some ideas for you to try:
Activity Three
Making a log pile house.
Could make a log pile house for the snake?
Could you collect twigs and sticks from outside?
Could you make an enclosure that hides the snake from the Gruffalo?
Activity Four
Forest animal detectives
Watch the video below. This video shows a variety of forest animals.
Can you spot the animals in the forest?
Look at the colours of the animals, how do they move and what do they look like?
Can you guess what the animal is?
Repeat the name of the forest animal.
