Together join in with the repeated phrases (so they sent me a .... so I sent him back.)
Talk about the different animals in the book.
Encourage your child to recall why the animal was sent back to the zoo.
Ask your child would they keep the animal has a pet? why/why not?
What animal would your child like has a pet?
What animal would you like as a pet?
Talk about the animals in the story. What other animals might you see at the zoo?
If you could choose any animal for a pet, what animal would you choose?
Could you draw a picture of the animal you would like?
Why did you choose your animal for a pet?
Do you have any pets at home ?
Maybe you could send some photographs of your pets and tell me about them
Making Animal Snacks
With a little help from an adult, could we create an animal out of the food we have at home?
This is a lovely activity where lots of discussion could happen around:
- Hygiene - The importance of washing our hands
- Safety - How we use kitchen utensils safely
- Shapes- Talk about the shapes the animals have and what food you could use
- Food - Healthy / unhealthy foods
Look at some of the ideas below that you could try:
Moving like an animal
Could you join in with the song and have a go at the animal movements?
Making an Animal Craft
