Week beginning 20.4.20

20th April 2020

Please use the form to say how many of the super six you got!

Super Six form.

Read to your child. Pick a book they like. This is just for fun and is something all the children enjoy at school.

If you don't feel like reading your own books then listen to an audible book together. https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

This time it's time for your child to read to you. You were emailed the "set" they should use over Easter. Pick any book and encourage them to read for 10 minutes. If they are stuck on a word, get them to sound each letter out and then blend. Don't make them guess.

Play on Sumdog for 15 minutes. It can be a reading, spelling or maths game. They are all great practice.

There are 5 "inspiring" pictures at the bottom of the page.

1. Choose a picture you'd like to describe.

2. Use adjectives to describe the picture. (yellow fish, sparkly, white snow, scary woods)

3. Write a sentence which includes your adjective.  (The floor was covered in sparkly, white snow. )

Then send me a picture of the sentence so I can put it on the blog. Use the address: MapleTreeSEMH@hawbush.dudley.sch.uk

Do the lessons on the Summer Term - Week 1 from White Rose. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/

The lesson is on a worksheet. Rather than print it out just use the "add notes" button to write the answer straight onto the screen. Then mark the answers afterwards.

At Maple Tree, we have a topic each week. This week our topic is drawing cartoon characters.

Use the videos on this YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/cartooning4kids

Once you have finished, send your creations to MapleTreeSEMH@hawbush.dudley.sch.uk

Don't forget to play!

Playing is really important so get some time away from screens and work. Build a den, play hide and seek, make a daisy chain, construct the tallest tower you can. Have fun!
