Week beginning 11.5.20

Here is this week's timetable. As usual, please keep the learning positive. A good routine helps. If your child wants to do different maths or English, then feel free to go with that. Just send me the pictures.

Read to your child. Pick a book they like. This is just for fun and is something all the children enjoy at school.

If you don't feel like reading your own books then listen to an audible book together. https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

or sign up for Oxford Owl eBooks which is completely free and contains hundreds of your child's favourite books.

This time it's time for your child to read to you. You were emailed the "set" they should use over Easter. Pick any book and encourage them to read for 10 minutes. If they are stuck on a word, get them to sound each letter out and then blend. Don't make them guess.

If you are struggling with this, then using Teach Your Monster to Read is fine.

Play on Sumdog for 15 minutes. It can be a reading, spelling or maths game. They are all great practice. The children have also told me that they like looking at who else is on and trying to beat them.

We will have a competition again on Thursday where we can all play against each other.

We will use some o the BBC Bitesize lessons brought to you by Digger and the gang!

Can the younger children, use the English lessons from here:

and the older children use the English lessons from here:

We started on "Summer Term - Week 1". Carry on from where you left off.

The lesson is on a worksheet. Rather than print it out just use the "add notes" button to write the answer straight onto the screen. Then mark the answers afterwards.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SEND ME PICTURES OF THIS WORK. You can encourage your children by telling them I will put their work on the blog.

As we are allowed to do more exercise now, can you send me pictures of the children playing a sport. It might be tennis, football, rounders, leap frog or a game they have made up. Can they do a different game every day? Send me the pictures for the blog!

Don't forget to play!

Playing is really important so get some time away from screens and work. Build a den, play hide and seek, make a daisy chain, construct the tallest tower you can. Have fun!
