Lesson 1
WALT: describe a character using similes, adjectives and verbs
Our story this week is The Colour Monster by Anna LLenas. Listen to the story below.
The Colour Monster

Remember back to last week when we looked at features of a character description?
Today we are going to describe one of the colour monsters. Can you use a simile? The book has lots of similes that you could steal for your own writing.
What is a simile?
I have written a character description for happiness - the yellow monster. Can you see what language features I have used?
I have used:
Adjectives (describing words)
Verbs (doing words)
Similes (comparing two things using 'like a' or 'as')
