Should we come back to School? - Writing Persuasively

Hello Year 3,

Thank you for all of your hard work over the last week. I loved reading through your work on persuasive writing. It has been pleasing to see all of your arguments for and against our lead question.

This week, we are going to be focusing on writing persuasively! We are going to be creating our own checklist of features, planning, drafting and writing our own piece of persuasive writing. We are going to be trying to argue the question:

Should we come back to school?

Monday - WALT: recall the features of persuasive writing by constructing a checklist to use in a persuasive argument

During todays lesson we are going to be looking back at the example of a persuasive argument that I created for you last week.

I would like you to look at the different features that I wanted to include within my own piece of persuasive writing.

How many of those features was I able to use?

For todays session, I would like you to create your own checklist of key features that you would like to include in your own piece of persuasive writing.

Will you use similar features to the ones that I have used?

Or will you be looking to include different features to make your writing as fantastic as it can be?

Our Checklist of Key Features we Created in Class

Tuesday - WALT: complete a plan of a persuasive argument using arguments for, arguments against and a checklist of key features.

During todays lesson we are going to complete the planning stage of our persuasive argument.

I would like you to use some of the different arguments you had from last week, both for and against coming back to school within your plan.

Can you state your argument and then explain why you think your argument is important?

You will need to plan an eye catching introduction and a conclusion which answers our leading question:

Should we come back to school?

Use the planning template below to support you

Our Class Plan: Part One
Our Class Plan: Part Two

Wednesday - WALT: summarise the key features of a persuasive argument by drafting a piece of persuasive writing

During todays lesson I would like you to complete the drafting stage of our persuasive argument.

You should use the plan you created yesterday in order to form the structure for your draft.

Remember to include the different features that you included on your key features checklist.

Thursday & Friday - WALT: construct a piece of persuasive writing including arguments for, arguments against an introduction and a conclusion

Over the next two lessons I would like you to complete the writing stage of our persuasive argument.

You should use the plan you created, your draft and your key features checklist in order to form the structure for your final piece of work.

Remember to include the different features that you included on your key features checklist.

Remember to use correct spellings, correct punctuation and ensure that you are using your best handwriting.

Good Luck!yes
